Divorce Doula FAQ
Is a Divorce Doula right for me ?
Divorce is hard for everyone, but for highly sensitive, empathic, or those who may be predisposed to slip into codependent or people-pleasing behaviors to cope with conflict or trauma, divorce can be especially brutal to process and function through because of how deeply things affect such sensitive souls.
Just a few of the women who may find high value in having Divorce Doula support may include:
The woman who is coming to terms with no real change taking place in the marriage and the need to move forward with divorce.
The woman who has been served divorce (or served her spouse papers) papers and needs help finding her bearings to navigate the rough water ahead.
The woman who is feels stuck and adrift after divorce, yet is willing to embrace the rest of her life daring to dream of the good things God has in store for her.
Will you help me with my court case?
No. As a Divorce Doula I do not offer legal advice or representation. I may pose questions or considerations for you to discuss with your attorney. Any actions or decisions regarding the case ultimately are in the hands of you and your legal counsel.
Is this therapy?
No. Therapeutic approaches such as therapy or counseling tend to look back at healing the past, while coaching is focused on the future from where you are now to where you would like to be. As a Christian life coach who takes a practical + prayerful approach to my work, I may introduce or suggest (with your permission) some healing prayer practices, but any healing that would take place would be from Jesus and not from me. My primary role is to help you keep your eyes on the horizon moving forward with your new life and holding space for you to discern where God is calling you to be.
